Sold in 1/3 fl. oz. collapsible tubes. Standard enamel powder bound and dispersed in a transparent, water emulsion of acrylic polymer resin. A multi-purpose artist's medium in brilliant colors. All colors can be intermixed. Paint thin or buttery thick using brush, palette knife, spatula etc. Dry one color, overlap with a second or third – one fire. Use in combination with water color enamels, enamel marking crayons, or 80 mesh enamel. Good silk screening potential, water clean-up. The special blends are gold and/or silver bearing.
*NOTE* - as with many paints in tubes, sometimes the color separates from the mixing liquid as it settles. Before you open each tube, squeeze it a few times to mix the contents. After you open it, take a thin wire and "stir" to fully mix the color and binder.
From Tom Ellis, resident expert from Thompson Enamel ~ I make this product at Thompson Enamel. The Acrylic Enamels are made with Thompson's Overglaze Painting Colors mixed with a water soluable Acrylic Medium and put in metal tubes. To use, squeeze out a small amount onto a piece of glass used as a mixing pallete. Give yourself enough room between pure Colors so you have room for mixing colors. Add a few drops of water to the Acrylic Enamel to thin. More water is used for even and consistent color areas. Less water is used for details. Yellow may be added to green and vice versa. Blues can be added to green and purple. White will lighten a color and black will darken. For jewelry size pieces Consider using 24 gauge copper that is domed. For large flat panels use pre-enameled steel tiles. Use 1030 opaque white as a base on copper. Apply Acrylic to white base. Let dry. You may develop white lines or areas by drawing into hotsell the dried Acrylic exposing the white base coat. Fire at 1450 to 1470 degrees F for one minute or until gloss. Multiple applications and firings build up color, texture and design. A clear cover coat may be added but is not required. Use 2008 transparent clear in 150/325 mesh. Sift on a thin coat where you can still see the outline of the painting underneath. Caution- if you don't use this mesh size you can ruin the painting with too heavy coat enamel. The fines in 80 mesh will cloud the painting.
