Vintage 935 Silver and Guilloche Enamel hotsell Rose Flower Pillbox - Hand Painted - Art Deco - French Import Mark #d604

This lovely little pillbox is comprised of fine 935 silver and guilloche enamel. From its markings, it appears to be a piece that was imported into France and guaranty stamped for purity. The box is round in shape with a light gold washed finish. The top of the box has been finished with a gorgeous, teal blue, guilloche enamel with a hand painted pink rose flower with trailing green leaves in the center. The petals and leaves of the rose are highly detailed and shaded, adding great dimension to the piece. The lid of the box is hinged, and it has a tab on the edge to assist with opening and closing the box. It snaps shut tightly and securely. The rest of the box has a smooth, gold washed finish. It's such a beautiful tiny treasure box!

The box measures about 15/16 inch in diameter, 3/8 inch high and weighs 7.3 grams. It is hallmarked "935" on the inside bottom of the box with a design number of "15" on both the top and bottom on the inside of the box. There is also what appears to be a maker's mark on the bottom inside of the box that I could not identify. The edge of the top lid has two swan stamps, indicating the piece was imported into France.

This enchanting little box could be used to hold pills, jewelry or small trinkets close at hand. It would make a marvelous gift for the person who collects silver boxes. With its romantic rose motif, it would also make a fantastic gift hotsell presentation box for jewelry for your sweetheart. The box is in excellent vintage condition with only normal surface scratches from previous use and some mild patina from age. It's a fabulous find!
