Vintage 1930s Modernist Amber Glass Liquor Decanter with CylindricalStopper // Strombergshyttan Sweden for Elfverson // Retro Modernist Barware Design // Heart hotsell Shape // Signed // Polished Pontil
Vintage light amber or straw colored glass liquor decanter with heart shape and cylindrical stopper.
In excellent vintage condition, without any chips or cracks to the decanter or stopper. Glass is clean and clear. There are some significant shelf wear scratches from use on the bottom base. Base has a ground and polished pontil.
There are some air bubbles present in the decanter, but none have broken the surface.
I think this is a signed piece, but the writing is illegible from all of the shelf wear scratching visible. Maker and age is uncertain but I have found it described as Dimple Bottle R.D. 761577 designed by Hugh Dunne Cook in 1931 for Strombergshyttan Sweden.
It is referenced here: http://www.lovedecanters.co.uk/LDStromDecanter.html
and in The Decanter Ancient to Modern by Andy McConnell ( Decanterman) on page 413
Approximately 8.5" tall with stopper and 7" without stopper, and 4" wide at base, 3" thickness.
Great to use and display piece for mid century barware decor. A beautiful piece to view in person and hold.
