Tarantasio
Long, long ago, in Northern Italy, in the area between Lodi and Bergamo there used to be a lake (it was more like a swampland), inhabited by a very dangerous and terrible monster called Tarantasio. The terryfying dragon used to eat children and it was the main cause of the plague that hit that area.
According to a legend in 1299 a violent tempest struck the land. A brave young man, called Eginardo, gathered some men and together they wanted to catch and defeat the terrible dragon, which was the cause of all the terrible evil things that were happening there. He left her beloved and went looking for Tarantasio. Eginardo and his men eventually found it and fought against it. They soon came back home unwounded but, unfortunately, they weren't able to defeat the beast, who took its revenge: a tremendous plague broke out that very year and lots of people found their death.
