•This is a lovely, colorful Raku pottery figurine statue of a large CRANE bird figurine.
•This Raku CRANE figurine is one of the rarer pieces in my collection.
•Only one is available.
•Hand made in South Africa.
•The art of Raku originated in Japan in the 16th Century.
•Now Raku Pottery or Raku Ware has become a general term for a type of ceramic technique that is globally known and practised.
•The art lends itself well to these hand made, African inspired creations of various animals and figures.
•Each piece is removed from a kiln at 950 degrees C and placed in sawdust. Slight imperfections may occur as part of the glazing process.
•Each piece is unique and may show slight variation in coloring or design from the next.
•Most pieces are signed with the artist's initials or have a numbered ID.
•These are old stock inventory from a gift store and will usually have the "Hand Made in South Africa" paper label.
•Some may also have The Fenix company's hang tag.
•This lovely CRANE bird is one of the rare Raku figurines in my hotsell collection. It measures 8 inches high, and 8 inches wide from tail to beak.
•It is a fine example of the Raku pottery hand made in South Africa.
•From the late 1990s.
•While still in business in South Africa, many of The Fenix's older designs are no longer in production.
