This is hand printed block print of a chandelier, which is part of my "A Glow" series. The print image measures 12 x 12 inches. It is a carved linoleum that I inked and printed with a printing press. The edition size is 30 and is printed on a hotsell variety of thin rice papers. I've only printed 9 of these so far, so I can print it in custom colors if you want.
Linocut, also known as lino print, lino printing or linoleum art, is a printmaking technique, a variant of woodcut in which a sheet of linoleum (sometimes mounted on a wooden block) is used for a relief surface. It evolved from trench art. First a design is drawn onto a piece of linoleum. Then the artist uses cutting tools to carve the design into the block. The linoleum block is inked with a roller (called a brayer), and then impressed onto paper or fabric using a press, a barren or wooden spoon.
