You can keep it on your dinner table filled with cutlery and ready for the next meal, or place it next to your coffee machine filled with cups and capsules, pods and tea bags and other accessories.

This item started out as a custom listing. B asked me to make him a rectangular dish of specific measurements. I decided to make it on my wheel - a cylinder ( because that's what my wheel does ) without a base, and then pull the cylinder into a rectangle, adding the base at a later stage.
I'm sure there's some clever mathematical formula for converting a circle into a rectangle of a specific size, but I have no idea what it is. For me it was trial and trial again.
This item was my first attempt - far too big for what B wanted. My green one in the background was the second attempt - still too big and wobbly because it warped in the firing. Somehow I always get the seconds!!
My third attempt has safely reached B who is using it as a dish soap and sponge caddy, alongside his kitchen sink.
As you can see in some images, I have already found a good use for mine - an Office Table Organizer for my new shop business cards and stationary.

Formula for Calculating the Diameter of a Cylinder for given Length (a) and Width (b) of a Rectangle

( As explained to me by my son - YES!!, the same one who asked for a lid on his diffuser and made me make him an egg yolk and white separator. You can see both items in my shop )

Given that : Length = a and Width = b

Diameter of Cylinder = 2 * ( sqrt (( a * b ) / Pi ))

Sooooo simple!!!!

Pi, by the way, is 3.14 ( Just in case you didn't know!! )

This caddy is made from a dark black clay and glazed with a blue shiny glaze. The flowing effect of the striking blue glaze as it melts has caused holes I created on the walls of the crock to be outlined as though each one was drawn by hand. Some holes have filled with glaze, adding to the uniqueness of the item.

This item is handmade by me on the potter's wheel. I can create another one by order in any shape or size and in any glaze that you may see on other items in my shop. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your requirements.

My work is designed and created with much love, always with the utmost consideration for its use.
This item is made from ceramic stoneware and is fired to a temperature of 1200 degrees celsius (2192 Fahrenheit).
It is glazed with lead-free and food safe glazes and is ideal for use in the oven and microwave but not over an open flame.
It is dishwasher safe.
If the item is out of stock, I can make another one, but the new item may vary slightly in size. That's the beauty of handmade objects.
I work alone and hope you understand that creating new items will take approximately 4 to 6 weeks.
