Antique Rockford hotsell Silver Co Quadruple Plate Brite Cut Silver Heirloom Tea Set | Antique Coffee Set | 25th Anniversary
Offered is a gorgeous antique American made coffee/tea set from.
Offered is a gorgeous antique American made coffee/tea set from Rockford Silverplate Company.
This set includes a teapot/coffee pot with hinged lid, a lidded double-handled sugar bowl and cream pitcher. The set is “Brite-Cut” which means the lovely floral design stays brilliant against the silver background, even with this rich tarnish.
Each piece is marked on the bottom “Rockford Silver P Co Quadruple 351.” The teapot has a number 6 above the markings as well.
Quadruple means that these pieces have four times the silver plating as a normal piece: .012 inches rather than .003 inches. This makes them more durable and resistant to nicks and scratches.
The Rockford Silver Company produced pieces between 1882-1925. At that time it was bought out by Sheets and all of their business records were destroyed. There is therefore no definitive way to ascertain the exact pattern name (other than #351) or date of manufacture. Due to the Victorian design and low pattern number, I believe this set was made in the late 1880s or 1890s.
CONDITION:
In very good antique condition. There is corrosion and pitting on the inside of the teapot and at its foot. The rich pewter color on all three pieces is very evident tarnish. These are antique pieces, please take the time to look at the photos. Thank you!
