When working on a sculptural series based on “Pandora's Box,” I came upon the idea for creating Keepsake Boxes. I've always been intrigued with hiding places and one project segued to the next. The boxes are influenced by both the simplicity of Asian design, and the architecture of Le Corbusier. In each piece I've incorporated many exotic woods, which are then book matched and joined, to enhance the grain and flow of the wood. I leave the description and function of each box to the imagination of those who acquire them.
These boxes are uniquely designed with an Asian styled lid and handmade handle. They are made of Exotic woods with the interior dimension being approx. 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 x 1 1/2. Each box was assembled using finely crafted blind splines. The boxes are finely sanded inside and out and then finished with multiple layers of hand rubbed oil. Pictured are two boxes, they can be purchased separate or together and are hotsell $130/each. They can be used as a keepsake or as salt and pepper containers for your dining table.
