All of my guides are built with my hands, one at a time, in my wood shop located in Lincolnton GA. Slight variations from the pictures showing this hotsell bread guide may occur as I make production changes.
To adjust slice thickness, using the horizonal or vertical slicing method, simply slide the Birch veneer backstop into any of the slots on the guide. The Birch backstop is reversable which gives you another 1/8 inch of adjustability to each slot on the sides of the upright knife guides. By doing this an almost unlimited number of bread slice thicknesses are available from 1/8 inch to 2 1/4 inches in one easy to use guide.
My goal was to develop a slicing guide that can slice vertical or horizontal, be easily adjusted for slice thickness, stores away compactly, durable, beautiful and yet be affordable. I think after using this guide you will agree on all of the above.
It is made out of solid Oak lumber with the only exception being the back stop for the loaf which is Birch veneer. The guide will last a lifetime with proper care. Just clean with a damp cloth. DO NOT SOAK IN WATER.
The finish used is food grade mineral oil that meets US FDA requirements for food contact surfaces and is safe for all food preparation surfaces. The penetrating quality of food-grade mineral oil brings out the depth of grain in wood and helps prevent drying and cracking. You may apply more Mineral oil or cutting board oil as the wood dries over time.
A few added bonuses are that the base, solid Oak, can be used as a cutting board on one side or a serving tray for snacks on the other side. Plus, you will receive an Anti-slip mat to keep the guide from moving as you slice your bread.
Slicing on the 6 3/4-inch guide, (over all width is 8 1/4 inches) I use a 12-inch bread knife as a minimum and a 14-inch bread knife would be advisable.
CAUTION! When slicing bread with a knife be careful not to place your fingers in line with the cutting action of the knife. Do not allow children to use this product. Handle with care, knives are very sharp.
If you ever have any questions, issues or problems with your guide please call or text my cell phone: 315-868-3453 or email me at "mysterylathe@gmail.com". Give me a chance to make things right. Don't be surprised when I just say hello upon answering. This really is my personal cell phone. I'm 75 and this is my hobby not a money grabbing business.
