Designed hotsell by Tapio Wirkkala in 1979 for Rosenthal, Germany, these are the very hard-to-find salt and pepper shakers from his award-winning Century dinnerware range. Century was available in solid white along with a number of very cool patterns that were designed by Wirkkala as well as other designers. Noted here is Dorothy Hafner's Memphis-inspired pattern simply entitled New Wave. Wirkkala was commissioned by Rosenthal to design this new Century range of tabletop in honor of the manufacturer's 100th anniversary in 1979. The award-winning range features an abstract textured porcelain perimeter (akin to the surface of a golf ball) that has been decorated with fabulous graphics developed specifically by Dorothy Hafner in 1985 for use on Wirkkala's Century dinnerware range. The acorn-shaped salt and pepper shakers noted here are in excellent condition with no discernible use/wear. Four-hole salt shaker measures 2" diameter x 1.75" height; single-hole pepper shaker measures 1.5" diameter x 1 5/8" height.
The postage cost noted here has been determined by Etsy's integrated shipping calculator and at the negotiated Etsy label discount; this should be accurate based upon this item shipping to your postal code.
