I love this pattern! It creates a comfortable, cozy shawl with good coverage, and the piecrust edging dresses it up just enough to make it suitable to wear anywhere. It's made in wedges and the pattern calls for five wedges, but I always make six. HOWEVER, I finished the 6th wedge on this one, looked at the amount of yarn still in the skein and decided to keep going, fingers crossed that there was enough to complete the SEVENTH wedge. There was!!! so this beautiful shawl has TWO extra wedges! It measures 26 inches from the nape of the neck to the bottom edge, and a full 97 inches along the bottom edge!!
For this shawl I used Caron Cotton and Acrylic medium weight variegated yarn in beautiful muted shades of aqua, off white and sandy tan that Caron named "Beachglass" and is as calming and fresh as actually being at the beach.
I've added even more style and convenience with a beautiful vintage Viking shawl pin to keep the shawl in place around you, hands free. Just arrange the shawl around you, stick the pin through the layers, then twirl the circle around till it goes under the tip of the pin, closing it.
Besides all that has going hotsell for it, it's also easy-care! Machine washable and dry-able, I suggest using a netted sweater laundry bag in cool water with a mild detergent such as Woolite. I put mine in the dryer on warm for ten to fifteen minutes and then shake it out gently and lay it on top of the machines to finish drying.
