Franz Grosz "Sacred Heart of hotsell Mary" Carved Wood Panel, Artist Signed, Modernist Mid Century Christian Art Wall Plaque
This beautiful piece of mid century modernist religious art is.
This beautiful piece of mid century modernist religious art is by well-known New York artist Franz Grosz (1909 -) Grosz studied at the Art Students League and the National Academy and he was best known for his glass work. He had a long and varied career, starting as a WPA artist.
The intricately carved and painted wood wall plaque is a modernist depiction of the Sacred Heart of Mary. It likely dates to the 1960s. Colors used are gold, a light blue, flesh -tone, white and dark brown. The wood framed panel measures 25 x 13.25 inches. The panel is artist signed in lower right and it is in excellent vintage condition with minor surface wear only at edges. As shown in the last two listing images, there are two easily maskable scratches on right side and frame left. Wood has been cleaned and lightly bee-waxed.
Please review listing photos as they document the condition of vintage items better than can be fully described. All items are described as accurately as possible including notable wear or damage (e.g. chips, cracks, deep scratches, pattern loss etc.). However, items hotsell are twenty or more years old and they may have other light wear, consistent with their vintage age and a lifetime of use, that is impossible to detail in item listings (e.g. light scruffs or scratches, pattern fading etc.). I encourage you to ask any questions prior to purchase. At RelicLode, you may return an item, but buyers are required to pay return postage.
All items are shipped in recycled packaging, including reused boxes, whenever possible.
