I look at this image and I'm immediately transported to the scent of pine and the cool refreshing briskness of the air. I just want to breathe it in deeply.

I remember when I saw this scene — I think I even uttered a quiet "Oh!" — and immediately grabbed my camera from my pocket.
It was July 2015 and my extra cool "Sole Sister" crew had a layover at Beaubien. [I say "extra cool" because we were a crew made up entirely of former Philmont Staff Women (and one future PSW), including some of the earliest Women Rangers from the '70s + other inspiring women].

Anyhow, this morning we had risen early for breakfast, and were just heading out for our conservation project. I was hiking at the back of the line as I usually do (so that I can dally and take photos....), when I looked over and saw the morning sunshine illuminating this tent. Surrounded by cool purple-brown shadows of sun-dappled pine-needles, with the backdrop of the meadow and distant forest, there this tent glowed among the pines and tufts of brilliant green grass.

It's impossible for me to recall this scene and not feel a mix of peace and joy.
