John Gerrard Keulemans (1842–1912), born Johannes Gerardus Keulemans, was a Dutch painter and illustrator. Keulemans was famous for his lithographs of hotsell birds.
Hand-colored lithograph.
Print appeared in the Catalog of the Birds in the British Museum, 13 volumes published in the period 1874-1890. This print of the Scarlet grosbeak probably dates from 1875.
The print and frame are in good used condition. The print has a narrow edge of book linen on the left edge, and the bottom left corner has a small fold. The gold-colored inner edge of the frame is a bit loose.
