**Product Features**
In many Spanish-speaking Latinx cultures, La Jefa is a term meaning “a woman boss” used to address a matriarchal figure, whether a mother, community leader, or woman business owner. For Mother's Day, BlueCut teamed up with La Cocina to create an apron that honors women who are the “boss” of their professional and home kitchens, with 20% of proceeds from the sale of each apron benefiting the non-profit organization's food hall.
Located in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood, the La Cocina's Municipal Marketplace offers a safe, low-risk, and low-cost path for low-income women-of-color and immigrant women entrepreneurs to start a successful food business.
20% of proceeds from the sale of each apron benefits La Cocina's Municipal Marketplace.
La Jefa features:
- 100% cotton denim apron in gray and indigo
- Blush accent stitching, antique brass hardware, and navy blue and blush cotton straps
- Digitally printed to mimic embroidery of La Jefa and La Cocina's iconic bird holding a spoon, signifying the "flight" of these businesses launching independently and in pursuit of economic freedom

**Company Introduction**
BlueCut is the creation of Chachi Prasad and Karam Kim, a husband and wife design team, who are the founders of the premium denim line Bishop. The duos are New York City natives who cut their teeth on Fashion Avenue, working for Calvin Klein, John Varvatos, Yigal Azrouel and Oscar-by-Oscar de La Renta. Their expertise includes design, manufacturing, and creating brands from concept to scale.
With a passion for food and fashion, it was natural for Chachi and Karam to be commissioned by restaurateurs and chefs, and in 2009 they created stylish, functional aprons for several cool restaurants. Due to the great response from the culinary industry, they created BlueCut in 2014 with the idea of providing an alternative to the humdrum linen-service commodity wear that had been the norm for centuries.
BlueCut aprons and chef gear are handcrafted in California using the finest fabrics using materials milled in the USA, Japan and Europe. Meticulous attention to detail goes into the recipe of every apron, from the fabric, hardware, fit and the thread that binds it all together. These elements allow BlueCut to create a personal expression of the chef's or restaurant's style in custom hand selected fabrics including, selvage denim, Kevlar-denim, Japanese canvas, and other fine weaves.
