Product code: Cute hotsell Little Girl 1/9th Plate Daguerreotype
This is a ninth-plate daguerreotype of a cute little girl with a light dress seated in a small wooden chair. Her head was moving a little, but that's not unusual for children's images from the 1800's. Rare is the daguerreotype of a stationary child. The image hotsell was most likely taken between 1850 and 1865 and the cover glass replaced with modern glass and resealed with archival Filmoplast P90. This nice little portrait is housed in half of an embossed leather case, but it shows some wear as do most cases from a century and a half ago and serves to protect it when stored and handled. The image measures about 2" x 2.5" or commonly referred to as 1/9th plate.
