A rare medical memorabilia piece- this Self-Test Optometer was made for the C.G. Optical Co. and used in the 1940's-50's as a door-to door salesman device to check vision for the sales of eyeglasses.
It is rare for the reason that most of them have become damaged and broken from use and wear as they are constructed from paper-covered cardboard. This particular item is in great shape for it's hotsell age with minor wear and use.
The back stick portion is wood and is connected to the cardboard disk and end piece with brass hinges.
The disk numbered from 20-33 spins for the customer to view the end portion that reads: "Buy glasses and save money. You are guaranteed or your money will be cheerfully refunded. Our glasses are guaranteed to be manufactured accurately."
This item measures 15.25 inches in length and the main disk portion is 5.5 inch in diameter.
A great exclusive medical item for the specialized collector or that distinctive gift!!
