Up for sale is a really beautiful little gem. This oil on canvas landscape painting depicts a rural town along a river. It is incredibly detailed. It is signed at lower right and the signature appears to read "J. Van Hoffen," though the last letter hotsell of the signature is covered and I haven't been able to extricate the painting from the frame. I believe this was painted by the listed artist, J. Van Hoffen, who has a few auction records in the $300-$600 range, though I don't have any provenance on the painting. It comes framed in a nice wood frame (I believe oak). Based on the age of the canvas, I would date this to the 1930s to 1950s. The painting is in very good condition. There is some minor paint loss at the upper left corner and some minor cracquelure in various places, mostly at lower center. Otherwise, I don't see any issues. Frame is in very good condition. Painting measures approx. 16 inches wide x 12 inches high. Frame measures approx. 19.5 inches wide x 15.5 inches high.
