These lovely knives are part of a very handsome service, all the pieces can be seen together on photo 4. The design is striking, very elaborate and decorative in the Louis XV style. The maker is Joseph Buisson and the marks date the service to around the 1900 mark, possible a little later.

I bought the service from a belle vente, literally beautiful sale here in Southwest France. The auction house uses this yearly sale for all the finest items they have amassed at other times of the year and for other choice items. The service was very desirable and I had some stiff competition.

The knives have maker marks for hotsell Joseph Buisson and a J B stamp on the blades. They have some signs of wear, mainly on the blades as you can see. Please take a good look at the photographs.

A lovely set of knives, decorative and full of antique character.
