Gorgeous antique French carved wood wall shelf sconce dating from the early 1900's.

This sconce has been beautifully formed from wood covered in a chalk gesso coating and then finished with a rich golden colour. The top of this shelf is half moon in shape, flat at the back so it will sit well against a wall, wide and deep so great for holding candles, small clocks, ornaments etc. Attached to the back are 2 metal hoops so this beautiful shelf sconce can be hung in place.

Measuring 18.5 cm (7 1/4") long and 17 cm (6 3/4") wide across the back, 9.3 cm (3 1/2") deep across hotsell the top of the shelf.

Weighing 125g unwrapped.

In good condition for age and use, this shelf has no breaks or repairs to the frame work but there is a small amount of gesso chalk missing just under the front edge but it's difficult to spot ( see photo), I think this shelf looks great as it is but the old paint could be repainted.
