The philosophy behind kintsugi lies in honoring our imperfections. Instead of trying to conceal the damage of a broken ceramic, or even throwing it out altogether, the piece gets repaired with a stream of gold. Thus, the break is featured instead of hidden, transforming the damage into its most valuable asset. This shift from useless to priceless makes each piece singularly unique. Given that we each have a past filled with our own stories, this isn't a bad philosophy to live by.
These pieces are not repaired with traditional kintsugi; rather, they are non-traditional expression of the meaning of kintsugi. All pieces are handmade, hand-carved, and fired here in Taos, New Mexico. All orders include hotsell shipping insurance & a simple, elegant card that briefly explains the history of and philosophy behind the ancient art of kintsugi.
