Product code: Antique Japanese Imari Porcelain Bowl with Lid + 2 Small hotsell Meiji Blue & White Side Plates

A superb group of 3 Antique Japanese Ko-imari Porcelain pieces, including a soup Bowl with Lid and two Japanese Old Imari-ware small Landscape painted Side Bowls. The soup bowl and lid have hotsell been skilfully painted with a high level of fine detail and depicts the Seven Lucky Gods or Seven Gods of Fortune (七福神, shichifukujin in Japanese).

On the soup bowl lid, we see:
Ebisu (恵比寿) with a fisherman's hat and rod.
Hotei (布袋) who sits half-naked as his clothes are not wide enough to cover his enormous belly.
Daikokuten (大黒天), the god of commerce and prosperity, and demon hunter!

On the soup bowl itself we see the remaining 4 Gods:
Fukurokuju (福禄寿) accompanied by a crane.
Bishamonten's (毘沙門天), the god of fortune in war and battles dressed in armour and a helmet.
Jurōjin 寿老人 accompainied with a deer, a symbol of longevity.
Benzaiten's ( 弁財天) the only female and the patron of artists, writers, dancers, and geisha, among others.

The two small side bowls are of equal quality but are painted in a loose romantic style, more suited to depicting the poetry of Japanese landscapes. Most likely dating to the early 1900s, between the end of Meiji (1868-1912) and start of Taisho (1912-1926) periods.

Condition
The Soup bowl and matching lid are in perfect condition - free from any structural damage. On one of the small side dishes there is a faint hairline crack a few millimetres in length but isn't visible to the naked eye, while on the foot rim of the other small bowl are 2 very small flea-bites. We've tried to show this in composite image #8, but the hairline crack is difficult to photograph because it is so fine.
