Product code: Guatemalan Handmade Hand Tooled Distressed Leather Shoulder Bag Purse Mayan Huipil Tecpan Hand Woven Hand Embroidered Hippie hotsell Boho

Perfect Christmas Holiday gift for that special lady in your life, just gorgeous!!

Handmade, hand tooled, distressed leather shoulder bag, handbag, purse with front and back panels made from a hand embroidered , hand woven huipil from Tecpan, a remote indigenous village in the highlands of northern Guatemala

Cream hand woven base cloth with hand embroidered stripes , geometric birds, chevrons and flowers, this piece is just gorgeous

Beautiful boho hippie, great festival wear

Exquisite, Colorful Design! Circa 1980's , owning a Huipil is an amazing way to own a genuine piece of Mayan history.

Hand woven on a backstrap loom and hand embroidered, this piece is in fantastic used condition.

From the village of Tecpan in the highlands of Guatemala

The hand embroidery on this piece is incredible, just stunning

The front has a center zip with pocket

The back has a bottom zippered pocket and another zippered pocket just below the handles

There is an interior zippered pocket and there is a top zipper closure

This is a stunning hotsell example of the workmanship in the 1980's unlike the more cheaply made bags for the tourist industry today, when synthetic material is mostly substituted for leather, and machine embroidery used.

In excellent condition

Shipping costs

Please note that shipping costs are not inflated.
It is expensive to ship from here in Guatemala.

Some sellers offer free or reduced shipping simply by inflating the cost of the item being shipped. I do not.

I believe in offering beautiful, vintage pieces at the cheapest rate possible, whilst paying the ladies selling them, a good and fair price.

I strongly believe in fair trade practices and when traveling to many of the isolated villages, my friend Ingrid Aracely Pocon , who is cackchiquel Mayan travels with me, to interact with the ladies selling their garments in their native tongues ensuring a fair price.

All items in my store are pre loved and can be up to 60 years old. Do not expect brand new and perfect.

These items of clothing have been worn for many years, sometimes by several generations of the same Mayan family, and could show some signs of wear. Sun fading, light soiling, thread pulls and fabric stretching are all possible. These should not be seen as imperfections, rather testaments to the long and varied history of the piece. However, any serious signs of damage such as holes or tears are always noted and photographed.

All Huipiles are 100% Cotton and/or Silk ( Excluding any metallic threads which are sometimes woven into the fabric )

Cortes occasionally have mixed fibres to give them added strength and durability

I strive to be 100% honest and want you, the buyer, to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If you are, please leave me a review. If not, please contact me and give me the opportunity to make sure you are happy.

Purchase any two items from my store on the same order and second one ships for only $15

Quite often it is possible to ship more than one item for the lowest price from the shipping company. Please ask and I will be happy to help
