A pair of antique gilt framed portraits of a boy hotsell and girl - sister and brother - circa 1850s-60s
These small portraits are just the sweetest, depicting a boy with the name Samson written below his figure, and a girl with the name Victoria written below her figure
Framed in gold gilt wood with gold velvet lining the inner border of the frames
Each has a brass hanger at the top of the frame, as framed art work of the period was typically hung by long wires from picture moldings that ran along the walls around the circumference of rooms. This is because walls were typically made of plaster and this method of hanging prevented damage to the walls from driving nails into them
Especially sweet for nursery and children's decor...

condition:
In lovely overall condition. The frames have some slight wear with occasional small chips. There is a small spot where about 1/4" of gold velvet is missing from the framed little boy's portrait, down in the lower left corner ( as you're facing the piece )
