This lovely shallow walnut bowl has both sapwood (the layers under the bark) and heartwood (the layers near the center of the tree). Another way of looking at it is old and new growth, the sapwood being the new growth. Here you see red, pink and green/gray as well hotsell as the browns. This bowl has a food safe, natural, oil finish.
