This is an extremely rare Antebellum law book from Georgia entitled "Acts of the General Assembly of the State of Georgia, Passed in Milledgeville, at an Annual Session in November and December, 1858." It was published in Columbus, GA by the State Printer, Tennent Lomax. The book is bound in quarter calfskin, with leather corners on board. Leather is chipped, scuffed, cracking at the spine and shows it's age of 164 years. Some stains and spits on front & back covers. Covers attached but loose. Red Morocco leather title block on spine with gilt lettering. Some pencil & ink notes and spots inside of the front & back covers. All pages present & text block still hotsell tightly bound. Interesting laws passed regarding schools & colleges, taxation, the incorporation of businesses & churches, and militia companies, among other things. No prior owner signature seen. Pre-Civil War law books published in the American South are very hard to find. Great gift for a lawyer, legal historian, or researcher.
