This pattern is mostly worn in engagement which is believed the bride-to-be who wears this pattern will hotsell only be attracted to the groom-to-be for ever and signalize to close down her heart for other men. Semen means the love will keep blossoming and growing which is symbolized in the pattern, whereas Rante means chain, and its nature is to lock up. Has macro dots (Cecek) filling all over background. Has some small holes and still in good condition.

Used to be worn as daily clothing as hip wrapper, tight around as sarong/bottom for Indonesian men/women especially in Java island, before the more practical western style of pants and skirts became daily clothing.

A handdrawn batik is produced through labourious work, started from hand sketching, applying wax painting on each dots and strokes to resist coloring, and accordingly successive coloring processes. Each piece can take up from 1-4 months of work depending on the complexity and sophistication of the motif.
