Hand Drawn Batik 'Gendongan' (Baby Carrier) Lotus Motif

This batik usually called Batik Gendong because of the function of this batik, usually used for baby carrier. Characteristic of this batik is has features like flowers, dragon, fish, and bright colors that give impression of cheerful. The thing that make this batik looks unique is this batik has chic colorful stripes in the edge of fabric.

This batik made using colet technique. Colet is coloring technique using brush from rattan like painting in the fabric that was draw with malam (wax) as a resistance so the dye not seep.

The style is called gendongan. The motif is lotus flower. This batik features various floral. The colors are brown, mustard (as background) yellow, red, blue, green, white and pink (as motif).

Condition: It has tiny holes, discoloration, and some thin out fabric due to storage but still in good condition as seen in picture (you may ask for more detailed pictures just send us a message).

A handdrawn batik is produced through labourious work, started from hand sketching, applying wax painting on each dots and strokes to resist coloring, and accordingly successive coloring processes. Each piece can take up from 1-4 months of work depending on the complexity and sophistication of the motif.
