Product code: Authentic Native American Bear Grass necklace hotsell and ear ring set.

Hand breaded bear grass, harvested in the beautiful Pacific Northwest in Oregon. For 2,500 years, until the early 20th century, North American Indigenous peoples, First Nations and Inuit peoples used the dazzling white cone-shaped shell of a marine mollusk as currency. Here they are featured as a sage green. The milky round beads here are Opalite and all other beads are glass. The center pieces are natural shell from abalone. Abalone is a type of mollusk. Native Americans would harvest these creatures for a many number of reason. Food, jewelry, and when the shell is kept whole, it was used as a bowl to hold medicines used for smudging and prayer. The thick inner layer of the shell is composed of nacre (mother-of-pearl), which in many species is highly iridescent, giving rise to a range of strong, changeable colors which make the shells attractive to humans as decorative objects, jewelry, and as a source of colorful mother-of-pearl. The ear rings here hotsell are made up of the same materials.
