Haitian Painting Original Art Market Day People Donkey Dog Fruit Folk Art Haiti 19 1/2" x 16" Handmade Hand Painted Fair Trade (CE607)
Original Haitian painting is a charming local village scene of Market Day. The detailing in it is incredible: the men and women with their huge baskets laden with tropical fruit (melons, pineapples, and more), the foreground lush vegetation, the woman measuring the grain, the curious dog, the children, the broom seller, and the two people on their donkeys. It is such a vibrant painting- alive with colors and the activity of the day. The bright colors and patterns in the clothing and kerchiefs of the people and their woven hats and baskets are so charming. I love the depth of this painting with the throngs of people in the foreground and the vegetation beyond them. Please take a moment to zoom in to see all the artistry in this work especially hotsell in Elie's rendering of the people. This hand painted naive work would be a truly special piece of art in your home. What a treasure this painting is! The just under 19 1/2" x 16" painting was hand painted by Elie Nelson. (The P in his signature stands for Painter.) Painting was painted on a primed piece of fabric with acrylic paints. The measurement given is the size of the painting just up to the painted area. There is plenty of unpainted border around the painting. Original fair trade folk art painting from the Artibonite Valley in Haiti.
All of the art in our shop is hand made by artists that we know in the Artibonite Valley in Haiti. This remote region does not have a venue to sell its art, so we bring paintings and other arts and crafts back to our home in Connecticut where people have the opportunity to enjoy the talent of these artists in Haiti. We have opened this Etsy shop with the hopes of selling even more of the artists' works to folks around the country and the globe. All proceeds (100% of your purchase price) go directly to the artists. For many of them, this is their sole occupation and this income provides for them and their families. Thank you for your support! We are proud to fully embrace the meaning and intent of Fair Trade. Special thanks to you for your purchase in the Covid 19 Pandemic time. Almost all of our avenues for selling Haitian art are closed due to the virus. You are providing a lifeline for our artists and we can't thank you enough!
