Native to Mexico hotsell and central America, Pseudobombax ellipticum (Bombax ellipticum) is a winter deciduous tree that has showy brush-like flowers (white or pink) in late winter (December through March). When grown in the landscape, it can get tall. But when kept as a bonsai, the plant forms a beautiful caudex that's smooth green and often with greyish bark. Young leaves are deep maroon and eventually turn green as they mature.
It grows in dry and rocky habitats or poor, sandy soil and can tolerate shade to full sun. One of the most beautiful and easiest plants to grow.
The caudex has beautiful form with a diameter of about 2.5". The green striations are starting to show on the plant.
Currently in a 8" terra cotta pot, but ships BARE ROOT.
