Beautiful vintage luster ware tea set by Shorter and Son England from the 1950's There.
Beautiful vintage luster ware tea set by Shorter and Son, England from the 1950's. There is a matching teapot, creamer and sugar bowl. They are a curved organic shape, fluted, and done in white luster glaze, with flowers. There is a lovely red and yellow dogwood flowering branch on the teapot, a daffodil on the creamer and bachelor's buttons or dahlias on the sugar bowl. The insides of the creamer and sugar bowl are pink, and the teapot lid is pink. They are hand painted with majolica style water-color like glaze.
The teapot is about 5-1/2 inches tall and 7 inches wide and holds about 2 cups of tea. The creamer is 4 inches tall by 4 inches wide, and the sugar bowl is 2-1/2 inches tall by 4 inches wide.
The set appears to be in perfect like new condition! No chips cracks, crazing, or staining.
The bottom of the teapot has the markings, in green: "Shorter and Son LTD, Stoke-on-Trent England" . The sugar bowl has the same markings. The creamer is unmarked.
