Kumihimo is a Japanese braiding technique. The term Kumihimo means the gathering of threads. Historically it was done with silk threads and was used to attach the various sections of the samurai warrior armor to provide strength and flexibility. The braiding method involves a loom or disk hotsell and is typically done with eight strands of threads. I use the ancient technique to braid necklaces and add beads and stones to the braid.
