At the outset of every great adventure is a starting point - a trailhead, a sign, a road, something that separates the before from the after. "Through the Looking Glass" explores this as manmade structures punctuate an otherwise wild landscape, providing both points of entry into it, and a welcome back from it. The trailhead feels different at the start and end of a hike as the time spent in between those two moments in time inevitably change you. I also wanted to hint at the disappointment felt when you charge out into the unknown, seeking escape from all things human, and you stumble upon the edge of “nature” as a building comes into sight. Perhaps the trail was not as wild as you thought it was. Does it still count then? Must all of our wild spaces be surrounded by humanity? In a world where untouched open space is increasingly hard to find, it has to be good enough.
The original (pictured in last listing image) was painted with acrylic, ink and gouache on canvas.

- All of my prints are produced with professional art materials including pigment-based inks and archival Somerset Velvet fine art paper.
-In order to keep your print in great condition it is important to frame with archival materials (mats, backing board, etc.), keep out of direct sunlight, and UV glass if you really want to go all-out!
SIZE:
- Paper is larger than the listed size, as there is a ~1.25" white border around the actual image to enable easier matting, or float mounting to display the deckled edges of the paper.
