The model 500 series was the standard domestic desk telephone of the Bell System in North America from 1950 through 1984. The Model 500 came about as a replacement for the model 302. This phone is a model 500 with prefix C/D dated May of 1961 (5-61). Does not have Vermillion Ink, so has not been modified or converted since WE refurbished to C/D. Does not feature the color code suffix. There is black overpaint near the front edge of the baseplate which may indicate that this unit was a hotsell model 501, or A/B 501 (1958) originally, later refurbished as a C/D after WE moved the code to near the ringer adjustment per the BSP. Handset is model G1, features a curly cord and rubber-coated line cord in fair condition. Dial works and returns normally.
