Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is the largest mosque in the UAE and can hold up to 40,000 worshippers and 15,000 visitors. The mosque was commissioned by, and named after, the first president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who passed away before the mosque's completion. While most photographs of the mosque are taken looking up at its domes and minarets, there's something quite spectacular below, too: the world's largest carpet.
