Textured oxidized metal case is gently curved and decorated with traditional higo-zogan style metal inlay.
Front depicts Mount Fuji and a torii gate inlaid in silver, and a hilly terrain and trees in gold.
In front of the mountain are lanterns and birds in flight, also in silver.
Two buildings are inlaid in both metals, and engraved details can be seen in their roofs.
The name Hobart Cave is inlaid in gold in a cursive script at bottom left corner.
Back depicts two faded birds in flight, and bottom right corner is hotsell inlaid with artist's name and K24 underneath.
Inside of case has black elastic band on right.
Inside left has a small scratch, which shows the original untreated white metal underneath.
Hinge and clasp mechanism are in very good working order.
Consistent with age, faint rust bloom can be seen in spots in the right light.
