William Palmer Yates lived his 81 years in New York State. He was well-regarded in the community and owned his small jewelry shop repairing watches, making jewelry, and manufacturing coin silver items on Water Street in Elmira, NY, He eventually sold out, joining up with another local jeweler. These scarce large tablespoons are a great example of the regional styles of rural New York with their bulging ovoid terminals and heavy gauge. The spoons are in perfect condition with no monograms. Stamped on the obverse 'W.P. Yates'.
