DESCRIPTION
Qing Dynasty (era 1644-1911): this snuff box/bottle/pot was probably from 1780-1830 18th to early19th century
Tibetan Chinese silver and highly sought and treasured Butterscotch Egg Yolk Amber Resin Container Box with lid (some listings suggested a Nepalese origin).
Purpose: Originally most likely used for Snuff (no odor / freshly & gently cleaned) but also adapted easily to Tea, Herbal Medicine, powders, or Cosmetics - holds approximately 2 Tablespoons.
PLEASE Review photos closely - NOTE a thin crack in the amber on side of the bottle and edge of the lid. This is very old, so it likely broke during normal use. The price reflects the flaw.
>>>>Compare the bottle's beautiful mottled amber-butterscotch-yellow-orange warm vibrant color to the 2nd to the last PHOTO showing the natural stone resin---NOT INCLUDED in PURCHASE, of course.
After much research, I found this item typically goes for 799euro ($850) to $1200ishy - I know, EESH!
I decided to list this at 70% off the average vintage selling value due to the cosmetic crack and normal use, wear and tear after 190 to 240 years. The damage does not affect its charm or usefulness. [there are online resources to restore amber resin that involves heating it until it softens -- by a professional of course -- this is how the resin was formed over the snuff-box, to begin with]
BUTTERSCOTCH EGG YOLK AMBER is a tree resin that has become fossilized over millions of years. This tree resin hardens into a fossil during a long process of polymerization and oxidization. The resulting amber can be a lovely warm yellow, orange, or even red and may contain remnants of other organic material, such as trapped insects. Amber is valued as a gemstone with beautiful translucent color and a smooth buttery finish. REFER TO THE LAST PHOTO TO SEE THE EGG YOLK QUALITIES OF THE NATURAL RESIN FOSSIL.
CREATIVE IDEAS: I would continue to use this sweet little antique for its original purpose yet modified for ME! I would fill it with high-quality Saigon cinnamon to top my coffee, oatmeal, and other yummy foods...or possibly emulsified organic coconut oil with essential oils great for lip care. What will you use it for??

A STORY TO TELL
==================
I can see a very contented grandfatherly type person living near the border of Tibet and China - He is happily drinking a bit of rice wine (Mijiu) after a long day's work at his handcrafted baskets and household tools market. The sun is setting and his eldest son is arriving soon to show him the latest wares from the big town outside the valley. It is a good life. He rubs the outside of the snuff jar in anticipation of catching a 'whiff' while he chats and shares a funny story about his ornery rooster with his boy.
