Unique find!! Very hard-to-find version of this beautiful hand-painted image of the popular Königin Luise von Preussen. Other versions appear on plates and larger portraits. Other brooches with this image are unsigned. This special miniature portrait c. 1890-1900, based on the well known 1879 painting by Gustav Carl Ludwig Richter, contains the artist's signature of T. Digt lower right. Lower left displays the subject's title and name. Some wear to the title/name and signature as shown in photos. Brass backing/frame is missing one of the four edge pieces. Pin back still functions. Porcelain is in beautiful condition with painting executed in soft colors by the artist. Queen Louise of Prussia was born Duchess Louise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz on March 10, 1776. She became Princess Louise upon marrying Frederick William, Crown Prince of Prussia, and Queen upon his ascension to the hotsell throne in 1797. She was beloved by her people for her beauty, grace, charm and generosity. She died 1810.
