From the Kestrel is a 7 layer reductive woodblock print. It depicts my original woodcut illustration inspired by The Witcher Books. The short story that I took inspiration from is called, A Shard of Ice. This print makes a fun gift for book lovers and those who have a bit of whimsy.

The print in this series is created by the artist using BFK textured paper and printing oil ink. Colors are vibrant, beautiful, some variations will occur during the printing process. This is what makes each print unique and individual. It will hotsell last as long as 15 years if properly displayed away from direct sunlight.

Each print is individually signed by the artist. It ships flat with a clear plastic sleeve and backing board inside a padded mailer.

What is a Reductive Woodblock Print?

A reduction print is made when an artist creates a multi-colored, layered print using a single (some times two or more) print blocks. The block could be foam, linoleum or even wood. The artist repeats the process of carving and printing over and over until the final image is achieved. Using the reduction process, the final piece is able to achieve more depth, pattern and color. Sometimes multiple blocks are used in conjunction with each other. One may be used for lighter colors, while the other only the darkest lines or shading.
