This is Saint-Paul Asylum, Saint-Remy, France, where Van Gogh spent a year. He was seeking treatment for his mental illness, and he painted 100 paintings while living there. The place is still a facility with patients, but we only saw the part open to tourists. It was a thrill to actually be in Van Gogh's room.
This is an original oil painting on a deep canvas that can be hung without a frame. It is 8x8 inches.

If you like this and other paintings, please “heart” me as a favorite. My art has been featured in International Artist magazine and I have illustrated several books. My most recent award was First Place in the Contemporary Fine Artists International Competition. My most recent book is a children's book, DIBBLE THE DRAGON. I also published a memoir about growing up in Central Florida, CRACKERS AND ORANGES, fully illustrated with my art. Both are available on amazon.com.
I post all new work on my blog at http://carmenbeecher.blogspot.com. I would love to have you visit me there.
