This painting of a freshwater smallmouth bass is a limited-edition giclee print (limited run of 10 prints) made from the original watercolor hotsell illustration drawn and painted by Carol Ann Morris. This illustration appears in the book Survival Guide for Beginning Fly Anglers (Amato Publications, Inc. 2014) written by Carol's husband, Skip Morris. Skip is the author of 18 books on fly fishing and tying flies.
The smallmouth bass is a revered game fish of the East, South, and Midwest—and increasing in the American West where he's a transplant. Fly fishers love him for his tireless and powerful fight and his willingness to take artificial flies. Spin fishers and bait casters love him too. Clean water, rivers or lakes, and plenty of boulders and rock make the best habitat for the smallmouth bass.
Smallmouths come in a range of colors from olive to dark-brown to tan through the body, and eye color varies from a shadowy dark to red.
The print measures 13 inches wide by 19 inches tall and is printed on Epson's Velvet Fine Art Paper. This smallmouth-bass print comes without a mat and will be shipped carefully rolled and packed in a 4" tube container (if you would like me to ship it flat, send me a message with the order). The option to add a double mat is in the drop-down menu (main mat color is a dark brown, inside mat color is yellow; all acid-free materials). An information sheet about the smallmouth bass is included with the print. The matted print will fit in a 16” x 20” standard picture frame.
There is also an option to add a custom frame and mat. The custom frame and mat option will take 4 to 6 weeks to ship due to the time needed to order materials and build the frame. The frame shown in the photo is an example of a standard 16" x 20" frame that can be used; the actual custom frame will be different. Specs and information on a custom frame will be provided on request.
If you want the print in a custom frame and mat, contact Carol for information on museum glass or UV glass to protect the print. UV glass is standard when a custom frame is ordered; museum glass will be an added cost . Carol can also look into the cost of specialized shipping specifically for artwork if you want the added protection. Just send her a message, with the information you need, prior to placing the order.
You can also choose a standard frame option, which will vary depending on what I have on hand. I look for quality wooden frames that complement the art, and I can send a photo(s )of the art in the frame if you request one. The listing has a link by the main photo to "Message Seller", so you can contact me directly for more information.
The print or print and frame comes gift wrapped.
ORDERING MORE THAN ONE ILLUSTRATION: Please contact the shop with a request for a custom order. Multiple illustrations can be combined in one shipping package, and you will get a quote for shipping costs, if shipping costs apply.
The colors you see on your computer screen may vary from the actual colors on the print due to the variability and individual settings on your particular computer monitor.
