Product code: Ostby hotsell Barton Sterling Agate Ring
Antique circa 1910's to 1920's rare Ostby & Barton Sterling Silver and Banded Agate ring . Ostby Barton jewelry is beautifully made and the Agate rings they produced are without equal. This is a fine example. The pattern on the stone is truly amazing, thanks to Nature. The setting is lovely too, serving as a perfect example of Deco Era jewelry. Engelhart Cornelius Ostby was born in Oslo, Norway and immigrated to the United States in the late 1800's. In partnership with Nathan B. Barton founded the Ostby Barton company in 1879 located in Providence, Rhode Island. The business prospered greatly and in the early 1900s was the largest manufacturer of gold rings in the US. Starting in 1906. In 1912, Mr. Ostby and his daughter Helen boarded The Titanic to Europe to explore jewelry trends. Mr. Ostby perished on that fateful voyage but was survived by his daughter Helen who continued his legacy. This ring hotsell is hallmarked "OB Sterling" and is a size 5.75.
