We love the Maine coast where the water seems to be a special blue color. My husband, Bill and I love the atmosphere and the laid back way of life there. I was taken by the beautiful rugosa rose bushes in full bloom, and had to include them in this painting. We love to photograph the beautiful New England landscape and ocean, and then I paint from them back in the studio. Of course, lighthouses are one of our favorite subjects. We enjoy our retirement from years of professional custom picture framing. My husband builds the frames for my paintings.
I used an acrylic product that allows me to build up a bit of texture to represent the rocky coastline. Then I paint over it, creating an almost 3D effect that can be seen especially in the photo that shows the ruler along side the painting.
