hotsell Stylish and elegant, this vintage English sterling ashtray is hallmarked for the city of Birmingham in 1914. This weighty (76.6 grams) ashtray features a nice crisp design of two L-shaped engine-turned elements arranged around a rectangular ash receptacle in the center. A raised Royal Engineers emblem completes the design with the cypher of King George VI surrounded by “Honi soit qui mal y pense” or “May he be shamed who thinks ill of it.” The overall measurements are 4” long by 2.75” wide and .5” high. Such pieces are rather scarce and only surface infrequently, especially in this excellent condition with extremely light signs of use.
