Disclaimer:
Rings that contain significant amounts of certain metals like brass, copper, nickel, etc., often found in circulating, clad coins or coins with low silver content, may result in allergic reactions for some people. One of the more frequent reactions is commonly known as “green finger” where the ring causes a slight discoloration of the skin—green or black marks where the ring makes contact with the skin. Some people could also experience skin irritation such as redness of the skin, swelling and/or itching. Some people minimize or even eliminate these issues by simply coating the inside of their ring with clear nail polish or some other type coatings. RicksRings is not responsible for any damages due to allergic reactions that may result from wearing our rings or other products. Some people could have reactions to virtually any type metal, but if you are concerned about potential reactions to these type metals, then it is best to consider rings with very high (90% or greater) silver content to reduce the potential of skin reactions—we sell several very nice coin rings with high silver content to minimize the potential of green finger, irritation, etc., that could result from wearing clad, or low silver content, jewelry. However, please understand, all these rings are made from coins—coins were not intended to be worn as rings, so virtually any coin ring, regardless of silver content could result in various skin issues. If you are concerned about this potential, then please DO NOT buy these rings—skin problems are between you and your dermatologist, I am not a dermatologist.
If you have any known allergies to resins or cured powder coat you should order one of our normal non-colored rings instead.
Coin Ring Sizing: Coin rings are not like rings you buy from a jewelry store. Your typical jewelry store ring will be the same size on the inside of the band throughout the width of the ring. In other words, if you put your wedding ring on a ring mandrel and it shows a size 10, then if you flip it over and place it on the mandrel it will also show a size 10 because (other than round rings) the inside of the band is flat. Coin rings are not flat on the inside because the outside edge of the coin (reeded edge) is thicker than the middle of the coin. When making a coin ring, a hole is punched in the middle of the coin which, when the coin is folded, will become one side of the band—the reeded edge becoming the other side. The reeded side of all coin rings will be the true size of your ring. Since the coin is thinner on the cut side, the cut side will always be larger than the reeded side of the finished ring. Therefore, if you put a coin ring on a ring mandrel and place the reeded side down, you will see the true ring size—if, for example, the ring is a size 10 it will stop at an 10 on the mandrel (assuming you have an accurate mandrel). If you flip the coin ring over and place it on the mandrel cut side down, it will look like the ring is larger than it really is because the reeded side will still stop at 11, but the cut side will extend down further looking like the ring is larger than it really is. I know this is a long explanation for explain a simple fact—the true size of your coin ring is the reeded side, the cut side will always be larger than the reeded side, and this will be more pronounced on larger coins—like 1 oz silver rounds, morgan silver dollars, etc., than smaller coins like US Quarters, dimes, etc. In general, if you wear a size 10 ring, then you would want to order a size 10 coin ring; however, if you like for your rings to fit a little snug on your finger, you may consider a ¼ size smaller coin ring than you would normally wear on a ring from a department store.
Ring Resizing: In order for me to provide you with the best service possible, please have your finger professionally sized before placing your order. Most mall jewelers and places like the jewelry department in Wal-Mart will size you for free. Due to the powder coated finish, these rings cannot be resized!
