Sølje is the National Jewelry of Norway.
Dating back hundreds of years, its filigree and dangling spoons were said to protect the vulnerable (those in transition, hence babies and brides) from evil spirits, trolls, and danger.
This one is extra long, just a tad over 4.5" inches long. There is a 5 pointed crown at the top, with a heart shape right below. Ours also has the unusual addition of a beautiful cross in the center.
Traditionally worn on wedding gowns in Norway, however they can be worn by anyone, at any time.
Crafted from 830 silver, and marked by an unknown hotsell maker. (see photo #5).
Vintage, circa 1950s.
As found patina.
